Young People, A8 & Ethnic Minority IDVAs

Young People's (YP) IDVA
 YP IDVA's work across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough but are based in Cambridgeshire County Council.

The YP IDVAs work with:
  • Young people aged 13 -17 who are experiencing abuse in their own intimate relationships
  • Young people who have been through the care system, up to the age of 21 

 

High risk/MARAC level YP cases should be referred to the relevant team – either Cambridgeshire Idva.referrals@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or Peterborough peterboroughidvas@peterborough.gov.uk

 All standard and medium risk referrals should be referred to Cambridgeshire, irrespective of where the client resides.

Minority Ethnic IDVA 

The minority ethnic IDVA works with victims from minority ethnic communities in Cambridgeshire only, specifically those from South Asian Communities. Discretion can be taken on referrals for other minority ethnic groups. 

Please note that the IDVA Service cannot provide immigration advice to professionals or victims.

The minority ethnic IDVA accepts referrals at all risk levels but those scoring under 17 ticks MUST have victim consent to refer.

Referrals will only be accepted for support where the domestic abuse is current.

Please note that discussions about safe accommodation can only take place directly with the client when the IDVA is able to clarify their immigration status and eligibility. Until then, safe accommodation discussions with the client remains the responsibility of the referrer. In the meantime, the client may wish to explore options with the following organisations:

If the survivor has children, please consider an urgent referral to Children Social Care as they have a legal duty to safeguard children who are at risk of homelessness
