Pregnancy

Research shows that over a third of domestic abuse starts or gets worse during pregnancy.  As well as dangers to the mother, abuse during pregnancy can cause a number of complications including miscarriage.

Midwives are trained to ask pregnant women about any abuse in their relationships and this page and videos from the NHS explains more http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/domestic-abuse-pregnant.aspx

You can download a leaflet below for more information about pregnancy and domestic abuse.

You can find leaflets about effects of domestic abuse on children of all ages on our Parenting page.
